First look and feel of the iPhone 4

In a hand-to-hand comparison with the new iPhone 4 and the iPhone 3Gs, one will instantly notice how much thinner Apple made the new product. The iPhone 4 is 24 percent thinner than the 3Gs and you can tell, as I got a chance to handle the new model shortly after Jobs finished his speech introducing the highly anticipated product.

The iPhone 4 has a lighter, more industrialized look. It has a handsome stainless steel and glass casing that accentuates its thinner profile. Jobs called it the "thinnest smart phone on the planet" and I have no reason to dispute that, based on my experience.

And while I couldn't tell during my time with the phone, which goes on sale on June 24th, the thin phone boosts a bigger battery, perhaps the most notable improvement to address concerns from owners. The bigger battery lets users talk for up to seven hours, according to Apple's specs. The improved battery power can also accommodate 10 hours of video, 40 hours of music, 10 hours of wireless Internet browsing, and an unheard of 300 hours of standby time.

The iPhone 4 also runs on the A4 processor, the same chip that powers the iPad tablet device. You could really notice a difference in speed.

While the iPhone 4's signature new feature - a "FaceTime" application that enables video calling - is still a work in progress, its massively improved screen resolution, processing speed and operating software will no doubt please the millions of consumers who will begin purchasing the device on June 24. And while it's too soon to make a final judgement on screen clarity, you could see an improvement. I want to test the phone in different lighting situations to get a better feel.

Other notable developments with the iPhone 4:
Retina Display Technology

The most impressive thing about the new iPhone by far is its screen resolution, made capable by Apple's Retina Display Technology. The difference between viewing pictures and video on the iPhone 4 compared to previous versions is comparable to watching television on an HDTV set rather than an analog TV. Further, clarity of written text in news apps like the New York Times provide for a much more pleasurable reading experience.
FaceTime app has room for improvement

The front-facing camera of the iPhone 4 powers the most technologically advanced component of the new device - real-time video calling. While the FaceTime application is indeed state-of-the-art, it is limited by only being available via wireless Internet access. Jobs noted that he hopes carriers (eventually, we hope, more than just AT&T) will be able to handle the higher data loads associated with the new feature. As well, FaceTime video calling can only be done between users who each own iPhone 4.
It's still all about the apps

A demonstration of the "multi-tasking" feature of the iPhone's new operating system showcased how users will be able to run multiple apps at one time. Jobs displayed how a music app like Pandora can be run in concert with a new and improved email client (emails are now organized and "threaded" into conversations) or one of the now more than 225,000 apps available at the iTunes App Store.

Folders can now also be used to segment together apps into multiple categories. Rather than displaying individual apps across multiple screens, apps for sports or social networking or navigation can now be found in one place. The new operating system automatically names the folders based on the type of apps within them. Users can then super-cede default names with their own descriptions.

How to Enjoy the Life

You have heard one common sentence from people "Today, I am not happy". Sometimes people have reason for his/her sadness but many times they are sad without any reason. If you can enjoy every moment, you do not need to go for reading this article. If you want to know how to enjoy the life in all circumstances, read it, follow it, and finally make your life with full of enjoyment.

Get up with your positive quote: Decide on your own positive quote for life. Example: Today, I am very happy and I will make others happy or Today, I will try to live my life as if it was the last day my life or God has got up me for good intuitions. Let's achieve my happiness.

Smile on face: Always keep a smile on your face. If a smile exists on your face, people think you may be in a good mood. A smiling face attracts people and it also gives positive energy to change your current situation. You cannot change a bad incident quickly that happens with you or your family member but a simple smile gives you or your family member lots of hope, which is necessary to handle critical situation.

Forget the past: Do not try to open your past history. Whatever happened previously, forget it. Just think, today you have been born to enjoy life with full confidence. God has chosen you to make you a human being for obtaining happiness.

Watch comedy movies: It is a very quick solution to change your mood. Get some comedy movie dvd(s), watch it and laugh loudly at each funny dialogue or scene. It gives you positive direction to move from sadness.

Make friends who can make you happy: Some people have a funny nature, they can make a smile on your face very easily. Keep in touch with those kinds of friends and also try to be like them.

Don't make big expectations for your future: Sometimes you are not happy because you have not achieved your goal as per your expectations. It can be a reason for your sadness. So, know your limitations.

Satisfy with your things: My friend has a luxury car and I do not have it. It is not possible that each person has each & every thing. Whatever you have, try to adjust with them. If you have lots of money but you are unable to get smile on your face. This money is worthless for you.

Go slow, life is not a race: Try to enjoy the procedure of work not a goal. Go slowly and try to enjoy every moment. Don't try to compare yourself with others. Wherever you are, it's the right place for you. Try to see that happiness is looking for you only and keep telling yourself "I have never heard of the word Sadness".

IBM beats Infosys as India's 2nd largest pvt sector employer

While the news that Tata Consultancy Services is India’s largest private sector employer comes as no surprise, what is shocking is the second largest employer in India. This honour goes to IBM.
TCS has hired about 1, 63,700 employees as on June 30, IBM has appointed more than one lakh people in India.
Though no one will admit in IBM’s headquarters in the USA that it has hired so many Indians for the fear of backlash at home, this is a reality which was, hitherto, kept a secret.
According to a report in The Times of India, even though the company’s spokesperson denied commenting about it, a source within the company said that in a couple of years, the India employee strength could cross that in the US, where it employs about 1,55,000 people, and where the pace of hiring is substantially slower than in India.
What is interesting to note is that IBM globally has a little over 4,00,000 employees. So, close to 1 in 3 of its employees is already an Indian.
IBM has been aggressively recruiting in India. If we compare the number of Indian employees in 2006 and 2007, we will see a difference of 20,000 employees. This IT giant was even hiring during recession and has plans to hire more in the coming months.
Another interesting factor to know is that its staff strength is more than four times that of India’s biggest private sector company, Reliance Industries, which recruits about 23,000 people.
Infosys is third largest recruiter which employs around 1.14 lakh employees as on June 30.

Tips to make your CV perfect

Some tips to make a perfect CV
  • Do not mention Resume or CV on top: It takes the most important space in your CV and a recruiter or a consultant does not need to be told that he is viewing a CV, he already knows it.
  • Don't address yourself: When you write your CV, recruiters know that you are talking about yourself, so avoid using these words. CVs should be brief, to the point, hence remove all unnecessary information.
  • Write an appealing career summary: Begin with a sensible and interesting career summary just below your contact details. Your CV should be able to attract the attention of recruiters as they see the first screen of their monitor.
  • Highlight your strengths and unique skills: Why should a company recruit you? What special skills you have? What is your USP? You need to mention all these in great details to get that interview call. You should mention your extracurricular activities, awards, hobbies, languages you know, academic and non academic interests. Give ample space and attention to non-academic interests and skills. List out all the leadership activities you undertook as a student, awards you won, sports you played, etc.
  • Don't make your CV too long: CV should not be so long as recruiters and HR managers don't have time to go through it as they view 100s of CVs everyday. Two pages length is perfect. There are some exceptions - some employers prefer as much information as possible, but on the whole, anything more than three pages may have a negative impact on your interview chances.
  • Make sure your CV is in right order: Mostly your employment history is more important than your educational qualifications. This means that on most occasions your employment history should be placed before your educational qualifications.
  • Avoid spelling mistakes and grammatical errors: Spelling and grammatical mistakes in your CV may even put you in an embarrassing situation. So, proofread your CV well before you send it to a prospective employer. Also, make sure to use the same tense throughout your CV to make it read well.
  • Personalise your CV for every job application: One of the most important thing you should keep in mind before sending your resume to a prospective employer is to optimise its relevancy for that particular post. Once you've viewed the company's website or newspaper and read the job advert you'll be able to determine whether or not there are aspects of your previous experience that don't presently feature on your CV. You should highlight your experience that is more pertinent to the job that is advertised.
  • Use a formal e-mail address: Many students create 'funky' or 'cool' e-mail addresses in college but remember that your CV is a formal document. So make sure that you send your CV from a formal e-mail address which is preferably an amalgamation of your first name and last name.
  • Use formal fonts: One must chose formal fonts to make a CV like Times New Roman, Arial, etc.

The Importance of Technology In Business

The Computer Trend - A Brief History

The last two decades have marked an enormous increase in the number of home computers. With it, computer owners have invariably taken to entrepreneurship in many varied fields. Thanks to the growth of technology, computers and the Internet, new methods have been developed for processing everyday business activities easily. Without the advent of technology, routine tasks would otherwise have taken and enormous amount of time and specialization. Undoubtedly, the computer represents the top technology development in the last century as it relates to businesses today, both large and small. Advances in the field of technology have created a vast number of business opportunities.

Some Statistics

In 2003, the U.S. Small Business Administration produced a report/survey that established conclusively that more than 75% of small businesses owned computers and had heavily invested in new technology. Let us try to understand what the computers mean to businesses and how they contribute to increase their productivity.
USE OF COMPUTERS IN BUSINESSES

The fundamental reasons for the popularity of computers with small businesses are their efficiency, speed, low procurement cost and more than anything else, capability to handle multiple tasks with little chance for error.
Office Routines: Almost invariably, businesses loaded with the burden of increasing workloads and the pressures of being lean and mean, fall back upon technology for most of their administrative tasks. This work includes, among others, bookkeeping, inventory managing and email. The advent of the Internet has also substantially contributed in bringing down the costs of communication and marketing. In a nutshell, technology has reduced the overall cost of business operations.

New Business Opportunities: The explosion of Internet and e-commerce has opened up a plethora of opportunities for all types of businesses. New management methodologies, such as Six  Sigma  are easier to implement due to statistical software. Also, companies are able to train their own employees using in-house Six Sigma software programs, and as a result, save money on labor costs.

It is now possible to have many business functions operate on autopilot. This has opened up new opportunities for software development companies and business consultants. Another business trend that has opened up as a result of advancing technology is outsourcing. It is now possible for a company in America to have its data entry and customer service centers in overseas countries such as the UK. In this way, companies can service their customers 24/7.

Indispensable Components of Small Businesses

It is difficult to think of a situation where businesses can do without technology and computers today. It is extremely difficult to say whether businesses depend on computers or computers created business opportunities.

Software Specific To Small Businesses

Certain powerful, yet simple software has come to the rescue of small businesses in reducing their tasks and opening up new channels. Simple applications like spreadsheets and word processing helps them maintain accounts, finances and keep track of correspondence. These applications allow the users to customize reports and other functions to suit their particular business.

Drawbacks

Both men and women in business have adapted successfully to new technology. But the SBA report cites the general decline in skill levels of people, which may eventually result in an overall reduction of income levels. It seems that people get used to technology doing all the work and tend to neglect their skill development. It is up to individual companies to make sure that their employees are still able to do crucial tasks without the assistance of computers, if necessary.

Tampa’s loss is India’s gain, 500 PwC jobs come to India

In what hails as a bad news for IT employees in the US, PricewaterhouseCoopers is laying off about 500 in-house information technology employees — most from its offices in Tampa.

As per a report in AP, the layoffs will slash the ranks of PWC’s IT support staff by nearly half, from 1,100 to 600. This laying off has been done to have a better coordination of IT services between UK and the US.
Thinking about affected employees, PWC is encouraging them to apply for other open and new positions, and will provide severance packages for those who aren’t rehired.

As per other reports, many of these positions will go overseas and will be taken over by another company in India.
This is the second time PWC has cut jobs in Florida. Earlier this year, the firm cut back its tax practice in Orlando.

India create a $30 tablet PC for students

While organizations like the OLPC tried to hit the $100 mark for a netbook PC, India has gone a step further and created a $30 tablet PC
.
The device, called Sakshat, was unveiled by India’s Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal. It is expected to become available in India next year targeting students. To begin with it will cost $30 and be manufactured elsewhere, but the aim is to get the price down to $10 and have all manufacturing done in India.
The device itself has a 10″ touchscreen 2GB of RAM, a USB port, and Wi-Fi built-in. It runs a Linux-based OS and bundled software software includes OpenOffice, a PDF reader, web browser , media player, and video conferencing app. Power will partially come from solar panels mounted to the case
Although the device is said to cost $30-$35 to manufacture, the Indian government may subsidize initial shipments by up to 50% taking the cost to student down to just $15.
